KUCHING: Sarawak need to end win drought to bring campaign back to life.
Sarawak face a tough test at home in the State Stadium today when they face Felda United in the Malaysia Super League (MSL).
Sarawak coach Robert Alberts is in no denials that Sarawak needs to wake up from their ‘mediocre’ past performance.
Finding themselves at the bottom half of the table is also worrisome for the fans.
With Sarawak now at 11th spot in the table and 10 points behind current league leader Perak, they have no choice but to secure a win today.
No injuries or suspension from the Sarawak camp and Alberts will be delighted to have his first eleven to start with today.
New import signing Vedran Muratovic who netted his first goal of the season for Sarawak against Perak last Wednesday is expected to pair Zamri Morshidi in the attacks.
“We must win at all costs. Our players are indeed very disappointed after the last match (against Perak) but we must not let the matter of the last result dampen our fighting spirits,” said Alberts yesterday.
Alberts also reminded his boys to have full confidence if they were to beat Felda United.
According to his assessments Felda United are a much stronger team than they were last season and Sarawak winning chances would be slim if they are to play like their performances against Perak.
“Felda United is a team very dangerous in the counter attacks. They will sit back at their own half waiting for their chances to launch attack,” commented Roberts on Sarawak’s opponent tonight.
While adding that Sarawak must not fall victim to Felda United’s tactic which can cause frustration to the team, Robert also added that he is wary of the threats posed by some of Felda United’s experienced players like Faderin Kadir and and Hardi Jaafar.
Felda United, like Sarawak’s past opponent Negeri Sembilan is a team who combines youth and experience.
“Felda United also attack through the flanks with speed. However, we played against them last season and I think we might know a thing or two of their secrets,” added Alberts again.
Sarawak face a must win and fans are urged to show up tonight in full and hope that a victory will ease the pressure in finding their second win since the 2-0 victory over Kuala Lumpur last month.
The Sarawak vs Felda United starts 8.15pm tonight at the State Stadium.
My prediction:
Sarawak menang 2-0!
